Metal chimineas are prone to rust just like any other metal chiminea. The amount of rust will depend on how often you use it, whether it is mostly outside in all weather conditions, and how you take care of it after use. The rust does not affect its usability and can be repainted if desired. Also, cast iron is prone to rust and needs regular repainting if rust is to be avoided. For rusty chimeneas, it is highly recommended to remove the rust first by rubbing before cooking for health and safety purposes.

 

Since it is metal, the surfaces can become very hot when in use and may burn skin. Therefore, you need to take extra precautions, especially if there are children around. If you have a chiminea guard, it is recommended to use it.
